Abstract: Any JB version: Manually removing items from Windows Control Panel
Question:
I have a left over entry in the Control Panel for a Java Plug-In that I uninstalled. How do I manually remove this entry from the Control Panel?
Answer:
Manually removing unnecessary items from the WIndows Control Panel:
Go to Start, Find, Files or Folders, and search for all files with the extension *.cpl. Locate the one for the application that you no longer have. To do this, you may need to just double-click on each one till you find the right one. When you locate the applicable file, move it to the Recycle Bin, but don't permanently delete it. First, refresh your desktop by clicking anywhere on it and hitting F5. If and when the applet disappears from the Control Panel, you can then permanently delete the .cpl file.
