Installation options broken
Abstract: Installation options broken
Problem:
At the Installation screen, clicking on any of the options
except ADOBE and EXIT do nothing. There are two issues
here:
1) The GUI installation screen doesn't work
2) Browsing the CD shows *NO* files in the directory
INTERBASE50
Solution:
The information in this article applies to:
* InterBase 5.x
There are two solutions, one found in house and
one at a customer's site (reference call log #17667).
1) There was a 16-bit CD-ROM controller driver installed
>> replacing it with a 32-bit resolved the problem.
2) There was a *DUPLICATE* CD-ROM controller driver
installed and may have a DMA conflict >> removing one of the
entries solved the problem.
I spoke to Marco, never heard of this. He said that the CD is
made using the ISO 9660 Level 2 & 3 standard and perhaps the
I/O controller or CD-ROM driver doesn't support it.
